Exercise 2. What is preposition? How many kinds has it ? Give three examples of each.
Ans: A preposition is a word or a group of words placed before a noun or a pronoun to show its relation with some other noun or pronoun in the sentence.

It has three kinds :
1. Simple Prepositions 
2. Compound Prepositions 
3. Participial Prepositions

Examples of each:
Simple Prepositions - at , by , for
Compound Prepositions  - around , about  , before
Participial Prepositions  - during, considering, owing

Exercise 3. Use these prepositional phrases in your own sentences:
in honour of  - The country erected a statue in honour of their hero.

by dint of  - He secured the position by dint of determination and hard work.

in search of  - The birds were flying away in search of food.

at the top of  - The audience were shouting at the top of their voices.

in lieu of  -  Horeram accepted an extra vacation day in lieu of a bonus.

in the event of  - In the event of a fire, use the emergency exit.

according to  - According to the law, smoking is prohibited here.

•  instead of - Instead of tea, I ordered coffee.
