According to the bond, if Antonia failed to return the money within three months, Shylock would cut a pound of flesh from any part of the body. So, on judgment day, Shylock had brought a knife with him. In her turn, Portia said that in cutting any part of Antonia's body, there should be no bloodshed, because it was not mentioned in the bond. She even mentioned that Shylock had conspired to murder Antonia. Thus, she saved Antonia.
