1. State the voice of the verbs in the following sentences:
    (a) Birds build nests.
     Active Voice


    (b) He worked only two sums.

    (d) Mice are eaten by cats.
     Passive Voice

    (e) I am annoyed at his conduct.
     Passive Voice

    (f) Will you take tea?
     Active Voice

    (g) She sang a song.

    (h) Pay the bill.
     Active Voice

    (i) The story is told.
     Passive voice

    (j) They elected him president.
     Active Voice

    (k) Sita was carried away by Ravana.
     Passive Voice

    (l)The book has been written in English.
     Passive Voice

2. Turn into Passive Voice.
    (a) He loves his sons.
    His sons are loved by him.

    (b) We expect good news.
     Good news is expected.

    (c) Brutus stabbed Caesar.
     Caesar was stabbed by Brutus.

    (d) He has made a mistake.
     A mistake has been made by him.

    (e) I am doing the work.
     The work is being done by me.

    (f) He will learn the lesson.
     The lesson will be learnt by him.

    (g) The boys were playing football.
     Football was being played by the
    boys.

    (h) They can speak English.
     English can be spoken by them.

    (i) Does he speak Assamese?
    Is Assamese spoken by him?

    (j) Will they help us?
     Will we be helped by them?

    (k) He bought a new camera.
    A new camera was bought by him.

    (l) Mr. Sen teaches us English
    Grammar.
     We are taught English Grammar by
    Mr. Sen.

    (m) Write a letter to your father.
    Let a letter be written to your father.

    (n) Bring some mangoes.
    Let some mangoes be brought.

    (o) The hunter killed the tiger last night.
    The tiger was killed last night by the
    hunter.

    (p) We shall hold a meeting tomorrow.
    A meeting will be held tomorrow by
    us.

    (q) Take care of your health.
    Let your health be taken care of.

3. Turn into Active Voice:
    (a) The bell was rung by him.
    He rang the bell.

    (b) A snake () has been killed by the
    boy.
     The boy has killed a snake.

    (c) Rice () is sold by the grocer.
     The grocer sells rice.

    (d) Let it be done.
    Do it.

    (e) By whom was this news given to
    you?
    Who gave you this news?

    (f) My umbrella (☂️) has been stolen.
     Someone has stolen my umbrella.

    (g) I shall be caught by him.
    He will catch me.

    (h) The work is being done by me.
    I am doing the work.

    (i) A story was being told by my
    grandmother.
    My grandmother was telling a story.

    (j) The lion is called the king of beast.
     People call the lion the king of
    beast.

    (k) The old man was laughed at by him.
    He laughed at the old man.

    (l) The cart is being drawn by the
    bullocks.
     The bullocks are drawing the cart.

4. Put the Verbs in brackets in the Passive form in the suitable tense:
    (a) I [see] the picture.
    I saw the picture
     The picture was seen by me.

    (b) We [finish] the work just now.
    We have finished the work just now.
     The work has been finished just
    now by us.

    (c) She [write] a letter yesterday.
    She wrote a letter yesterday.
    A letter was written yesterday by her.

    (d) They [hold] a meeting tomorrow.
    They will hold a meeting tomorrow.
    A meeting will be held tomorrow by
    them.

    (e) She [sing] a song.
    She sang a song.
    A song was sung by her.

    (f) The carpenter [make] the chair.
     The carpenter has made the chair.
     The chair has been made by the
    carpenter.

    (g) The boy [pluck] some flowers
    yesterday.
     The boy plucked some flowers
    yesterday.
    Some flowers were plucked by the
    boy.

    (h) I [offer] him a chair.
    I offered him a chair.
    He was offered a chair by me.

    (i) He [invite] me to dinner.
    He invited me to dinner.
    I was invited to dinner by him.

    (j) Mother [give] a wrist watch last year.
     Mother gave a wrist watch last year.
    A wrist watch was given last year by
    Mother.
