1. Turn the following Sentences into Negative:
(a) He has a pet dog.  
Ans: He does not have a pet dog.  

(b) She will go with me.  
Ans: She will not go with me.  

(c) The girl sings well.  
Ans: The girl does not sing well.  

(d) We believed him.  
Ans: We did not believe him.  

(e) They lived in that house.  
Ans: They did not live in that house.  

(f) The sun shines brightly.  
Ans: The sun does not shine brightly.  

(g) You must learn the whole poem.  
Ans: You must not learn the whole poem.  

(h) He comes here every day.  
Ans: He does not come here every day.  

(i) We like mangoes.  
Ans: We do not like mangoes.  

(j) The hunter killed the tiger.  
Ans: The hunter did not kill the tiger.  

(k) You ought to go home now.  
Ans: You ought not to go home now.  

(l) We went to Jorhat by train.  
Ans: We did not go to Jorhat by train.  

(m) He was working at a distance.  
Ans: He was not working at a distance.  

(n) We returned home in the afternoon.  
Ans: We did not return home in the afternoon.  

(o) He got a prize.  
Ans: He did not get a prize.  


2. Turn the following Sentences into Interrogative:
(a) The boys are playing football.  
Ans: Are the boys playing football?  

(b) He went with his father.  
Ans: Did he go with his father?  

(c) She has gone home.  
Ans: Has she gone home?  

(d) He stood first in the examination.  
Ans: Did he stand first in the examination?  

(e) We visited the place last year.  
Ans: Did we visit the place last year?  

(f) The farmer ploughs the field.  
Ans: Does the farmer plough the field?  

(g) The moon gets light from the sun.  
Ans: Does the moon get light from the sun?

3. Turn the following Sentences into Exclamatory:
(a) It is very hot today.  
Ans: How hot it is today!  

(b) Lata sings very sweetly.  
Ans: How sweetly Lata sings!  

(c) That was a very strange sight.  
Ans: What a strange sight that was!  

(d) You are a great fool.  
Ans: What a great fool you are!  

(e) The girl is very intelligent.

4. Answer the following questions in Negative:
(a) Can you take tea?

(d) Can you speak Bengali well?

5. Make the following Sentences Negative:
(a) He must come again.  
Ans: He must not come again.  

(b) Samga will find time to come here.  
Ans: Samga will not find time to come here.  

(c) There are some more books.  
Ans: There are not any more books.  

(d) He comes here today.  
Ans: He does not come here today.  

(e) You must go this morning.

6. Change the Assertive Sentences to Interrogative Sentences:
(a) Everyone loves rose.  
Ans: Does everyone love rose?  

(b) We should never forget Netaji.  
Ans: Should we ever forget Netaji?  

(c) Everybody will help a man in distress.  
Ans: Will everybody help a man in distress?  

(d) The glory of India never fades.

7. Change Interrogative Sentences to Assertive Sentences:

(c) What is the use of such a machine?  
Ans: There is no use of such a machine.  

(d) Does not prevention better than cure?

8. Transform into Assertive:
(a) Who does not wish to be happy?  
Ans: Everyone wishes to be happy.

Ans: The glory of INA can never fade.  

(c) Where will you find such a good man?  
Ans: You will nowhere find such a good man.  

(d) Is not Rabindranath a world poet?

(e) Can anybody trust a liar?  
Ans: Nobody can trust a liar.  

(f) Will not truth prevail in the long run?  
Ans: Truth will prevail in the long run.  

(g) Who can control the sea?

9. Transform into Interrogative:
