Machines are man-made things. A machine makes our work easy and fast. A computer too is a very useful man-made machine.

A computer is an electronic machine. Which is used at many places, It needs Electricity to work. It works very fast.

Computer Versus Human

Computers have become an important part of our lives. But computers are different from humans.

ACCURACY

• A computer does not make mistakes. Humans can make mistakes.

WORK PROCESS

• A computer can work for long hours without getting tired.

Humans get tired after doing some work and need rest.

• Humans can work without instructions. Computer needs instructions to work.

TIME/SPEED

• A computer works fast and can do many jobs at the same time.

Humans also can work fast but not as fast computers.

Storage

• A computer has memory to store a lot of information. It never forgets whatever is stored inside it.

Humans also can keep many things in their brain, but sometimes, a human may forget the things.

Human Versus Computer

Computer can do many tasks but cannot be superior to a human because, computer is man-made and cannot do the tasks on its own.

DECISION

• A human can take his own decisions. A computer cannot take decisions on its own.

ELECTRICITY

• A human eats food to live. A computer needs electricity to work.

FEELINGS

• Humans have feelings. A computer has no feelings and emotions. If you hit a computer, it will not feel any pain.

Types of Computers

Nowadays, computers come in many different shapes and sizes. Some of these

are:

Desktop Computer

Desktop computer is a computer that is kept on a desk. It is big in size. We cannot carry it from one place to another. We can find them in schools, shops, banks, offices, homes and in many other places.

Laptop Computer

Laptop computer is small in size. It can be easily carried from one place to another. It can be placed on the lap for working. It works on battery.

Notebook

A notebook computer is like a small laptop computer. It has a smaller screen and smaller keyboard than a Laptop. It costs lesser than a laptop.

Tablet Computer

It is smaller than a laptop almost the size of a palm but is bigger than a mobile phone. It can be carried easily. It has a touch screen that allows a user to operate it without a keyboard or mouse. It also works on battery.

Quick Fact

Desktop, Laptop and Palmtop are called a PC or a personal computer. These are to be used by one person at a time.
